Q: Does the Hanson Film Institute provide production grants for filmmakers?
A: Not at this time, though it is a long-range goal of the Institute to do so.

Q: How do I qualify for and apply for an Internship Award and what does it cover?
A: You must be a registered student at The University of Arizona. You do not have to be a Media Arts major. The award covers travel and accommodations (food, only if it is part of an accommodation package). To qualify for an internship award, you must enroll in internship credit 393, 493, or 593). Application guidelines are available on this website and through the School of Media Arts website.

Q: How do I qualify for and apply for a Travel Grant and what does it cover?
A: You must be a registered student at The University of Arizona. You do not have to be a Media Arts major. The grant covers travel, accommodations, and fees (not food). Application guidelines are available on this website and through the Department of Media Arts website.

Q: Does the Institute provide grants for community film events?
A: There is no competitive grant process for film events or media projects at this time.

Q: Is it possible to get sponsorship funds for a community film event?
A: For the next year, the Hanson Film Institute is primarily sponsoring its signature programs, which are most closely aligned with Institute goals, including Cinema Tropical, Cine Mexico, Native Eyes Showcase, and the NALIP Producers Academy™ with additional signature programs in development. However, requests for sponsorship can be made to the Institute by mailing a brief proposal including the project budget.
