Research Fellowships

The Hanson Film Institute supports creative and aesthetic activities, namely film production and historical, critical, and pedagogical scholarship in the field of film. University faculty associated with the Institute have produced independent fiction feature films and documentaries distributed nationally and internationally; scholarly books; peer-reviewed journal articles; and on-going research presented at academic conferences nationally and internationally.

2006-2007 Research Fellowships

Awards made to Dr. Kevin Sandler, Professor of Graduate Studies, School of Media Arts, University of Arizona for a forthcoming book, Scooby Doo, and to Dr. Caren Deming, Professor of Graduate Studies, School of Media Arts, University of Arizona, for a monograph entitled The Goldbergs, 1949-1956.

2005 & 2006 Research Fellowships

Awards made to Michael Mulcahy, Associate Professor, School of Media Arts, College of Fine Arts, University of Arizona for a documentary film production, American Style, an hour-long cultural, historical, and personal documentary that will reveal how the decision to divorce is as much driven by changing cultural, social, and economic influences as it is by proscribed law.

2004 Research Fellowship

Award made to Greg Crawford, Assistant Professor, Economics, Eller College of Management, University of Arizona to develop statistical models for measuring the quality of television networks based on prices and sales of bundles of those networks in a cross-section of television markets. Applications of these models include strategic decision-making and policy-making in television markets.
