PARIS BLUES – FREE SCREENING

The Hanson Film Institute and the the UA Fred Fox School of Music present a free screening of the 1961 classic film PARIS BLUES, with an introduction by UA School of Music Assistant Professor and jazz curator Keith Pawlak.
Featuring an Oscar-nominated score by Duke Ellington and a rambunctious cameo by Louis Armstrong, Paris Blues is a tribute to jazz. Set in Paris in the 1960s, the film stars Paul Newman and Sidney Poitier as American musicians who must decide between their artistic integrity in the city of lights and the call to return home. “Ageing like a fine wine, this offbeat affair … is also one of the most delightful jazz movies ever made.” Radio Times
