Four UA Student Films to reach national, international audiences

Four films made by University of Arizona graduates will gain national and international audiences next month, thanks to support from the University’s Hanson Film Institute. The institute provides professional development opportunities for UA students, faculty and filmmakers — helping them connect with contacts in the film festival and television programming worlds, helping them create tailored film festival entry strategies and, in some instances, providing funding support.

TUCSON, AZ [November 15, 2016] – Film Tucson and the UA Hanson Film Institute will co-present the latest Inside Track panel entitled “GET REAL: Breaking into Reality TV” on Friday December 2 at the Center for Creative Photography. The panel will explore the world of reality TV or, in entertainment industry terms, “unscripted” television. Three industry professionals will join reality TV winner Anthony Michaels to provide insider information on how reality TV is made, the types of shows producers are looking for, how to get a reality TV show idea in front of an industry decision-maker, strategies for winning once you’re a contestant, and more. Also, locals with an idea for a reality TV show are invited to enter the Inside Track contest. Winners will get to pitch their idea to the panelists.
The panelists include Tucson-based Anthony Michaels, who won first place in Season 7 of Spike TV’s Ink Master. Anthony competed to win $100,000 and a cover story in 247 Ink. He will be joined by reality TV producer Ryane Belafsky, agent Nir Caspi, and Josh Murphy, development executive at Pilgram Media Group. The Los Angeles-based Belafsky, Caspi and Murphy are all University of Arizona alumni, with degrees in Media Arts, Finance and Media Arts Producing respectively.
