Documentary Story Strategies with renowned film theorist and writer Fernanda Rossi is a 1.5-day experiential hands-on seminar taking place November 9-10 for producers, directors, writers and editors from beginners to veterans. Using innovative techniques, Fernanda teaches storytelling principles and how to structure your film at all stages of production, whether you have just an idea, a script, footage, or a rough-cut. Documentary and narrative filmmakers welcome.


We’ll cover: • Principles of story structure • Exercises with poems, music and comics • Screening & analysis of 30-min documentary • Different models for story structure (beyond what most books say, traditional and new methodologies, Rossi’s own research) • Techniques, tools and tips to improve the structure of your film


DAY ONE: Fri November 9 (9:00am – 5:30pm): Seminar DAY TWO: Sat November 10 (9:30am – 12 noon): Hands-on practice
